Reclaim Your Relationship to Your Body, Pleasure, and Sexuality

Sex therapy in California for those who are ready to stop carrying what you were taught and start connecting with what you actually want.

You don’t have to keep carrying this alone.

Maybe you grew up in a home where sex was never talked about — or if it was, it wasn’t talked about well. Maybe you’ve absorbed messages from religion, culture, or society that told you your desires were wrong, your body was shameful, or that certain feelings weren’t okay to have.

Here is what I want you to know: that’s not you. That’s what you were taught.

YOU MIGHT BE FEELING…

Disconnected from your body or your sense of desire

Experiencing intimacy is complicated, heavy, or just out of reach

Ashamed of something you’ve never said out loud to anyone

Curious about your sexuality, gender, or identity — and not sure where to start

Overwhelmed by how big and scary this all feels

You deserve a space where this doesn’t have to stay in the dark, where someone can meet you exactly where you are, without judgment, and help you move towards the relationship you want with yourself.

Hi, I’m Laurie

LMFT #157001 (she/her)

The reason I went to grad school to become a therapist was because I wanted a deeper psychological understanding of how to support people around sexuality. I was already doing this work, and when people opened up about their bodies, their shame, and their stories, I wanted to be able to truly hold what they were expressing. I wanted to provide trauma informed, holistic care to everyone I supported.

I bring a feminist, queer and liberatory lens to my work, which means we don’t just look at what you’re feeling, we look at the systems it came from. The shame you’re carrying? Most of it isn’t yours. It belongs to the stories that shaped you. We are going to explore that together.

I love talking about the things that don’t get discussed. The things that feel too big or too overwhelming. I’ve heard so many stories and I promise, yours won’t shock me. What I’ve learned is that just naming the thing can bring so much relief. And we can do that with a lot of lightness, too. Humor also belongs in the therapy room. I am here to do this work alongside you so you don’t have to do this alone.

My Approach

Sex therapy with me isn’t just talk. I bring a range of tools into the session — depending on what’s most useful for you, we might work with:

  • Psychoeducation: teaching the anatomy of pleasure, and sexual health education that you may have never received

  • Parts work and Gestalt: getting to know the different parts of yourself and how they show up

  • Dreamwork and meditation: using your inner world as a source of insight and healing

  • Art therapy and creative exploration: finding expression outside of words

  • Mindfulness and somatic awareness: coming back to your body in a gentle, grounded way

  • Invitations: offerings to explore between sessions that root our work in your everyday life

I believe my role as a therapist is to show up authentically and be a mirror for your experience. I am a person who finds value in levity and humor as a companion to this heavy work.

Sex therapy can look a lot of different ways.
