Therapy for Musicians, Creatives & Music Industry Professionals
You’ve given everything to your profession. You deserve support from a therapist who actually understands at what cost — and what it’s worth.
The music industry is not like other industries
and your therapist needs to understand that.
The irregular schedule. The financial uncertainty. The way your identity is so wrapped up in your craft and it is easy to lose that sense self of self as you are surrounded by your colleagues, day in and day out. The isolation of touring. The exhaustion of being a woman or queer person in spaces that weren’t built for you. The way you’ve monetized the thing you love — and now it doesn’t feel the same.
And then there’s the people around you — the partner holding things down at home, the family trying to understand a lifestyle they’ve never lived. This work ripples out.
You deserve a therapist who gets all of it. The real complexity of this industry.
THIS SPACE IS FOR YOU IF YOU’RE…
A musician, producer, session player, touring artist, or songwriter
Someone working behind the scenes — management, crew, backline, label, production
A music educator or artist navigating the gap between your passion and your paycheck
A creative who has poured so much of yourself into your work that you’ve lost track of where the art ends and you begin
A partner, parent, or family member of someone in the industry

Hi, I’m Laurie
LMFT (she/her)
Music has been one of the greatest resources for my mental health and brings me so much joy. The people who create it — and the people who support them — deserve someone who understands the complexity and nuance of what they’re experiencing. I’ve worked alongside this community through Backline - a non profit that provides support to folks in the music industry and their families. I’ve heard enough of these stories to know that generic therapy can miss the mark completely.
When you work with me, you’re not going to spend half your session explaining how the industry works or why your relationship to creativity is complicated. I already get it. We can delve into what you are experiencing.
I bring a systemic and liberatory lens to this work — which means we look at the reality of the industry that you are in, not just what’s “wrong” with how you’re feeling. The environment you are in has a direct impact on how you feel about yourself and your job.
My Approach
Therapy with me is real, direct, and grounded in the belief that the systems around you have a massive impact on how you feel. We’ll use whatever tools feel most alive for you, which might include:
Creative exploration and art therapy: using your creative instincts as a therapeutic tool
Dreamwork and mindfulness: going inward to find what the noise drowns out
Backline resources: I’m connected to Backline and can help incorporate their tools into our work
Invitations: ideas to try between sessions to help you reconnect with yourself and your creativity
The goal isn’t just to manage your anxiety. It’s to help you find your way back to why you are doing this work.
WHAT WE CAN WORK ON TOGETHER:
Burnout and creative exhaustion
Navigating male-dominated or otherwise difficult industry environments
Financial stress and uncertainty
Relationships and the impact of the industry on people you love
Anxiety, depression, and building healthier coping tools
